Two Paths of Faith in America

Through observation and reflection, I’ve come to see a stark divide among Christians in America today. There are two distinct groups, each wielding their faith in profoundly different ways.

On one side are those who let their beliefs guide them toward kindness, empathy, and inclusion—values that uplift and unite. On the other are what many now call “Republican Christians,” who wield their faith to justify actions that stray far from compassion:

  • Cruelty toward others, especially transgender individuals, by denying them dignity and kindness.
  • Exclusion and division, rejecting the call to love thy neighbor.
  • Refusal to welcome those fleeing life-threatening situations in their home countries.
  • Opposition to providing decent healthcare for all.
  • Elevating the wealthy while marginalizing the poor.

This divide reveals not just a difference in politics, but a fundamental clash in how faith is lived out in the world.
